Let's catch ourselves here in Saint-Petersburg, in front of it majestic palace, of Russian baroque style, builds at the edge of the Neva, the Ermitage. The first contact is fascinating. By arriving on the place of the palace with which the center is marked by the column Alexandre (47 m of pink granite) we discover the facade of the imperial residence: walls green pistachio flanked by colonnades, broken front walls whites… luxurious! Built from 1754 in the most meaning baroque style by Rastrelli on the command of Elisabeth 1st, daughter of Peter the Great, this palace, in the way of life from Versailles had become the center of the Russian political life and the Europeans hurried up its lounges. When Catherine II becomes Empress in 1763, the French Vallin de la Mothe, build the " small hermitage ", where Catherine II decided to expose for its personal pleasure the works of art that she had begun to collect… Working hours: 10h30-16h30.

For its construction he choise border of the Baltic sea, the sea which is not any more in the hands of the Sweedesh since their defeat against of Russians in Poltava ( 1709 ).
